Richard Swanson, Ph.D.
Richard is a finance & economics consultant, primarily evaluating civil infrastructure assets and project investment strategies in the U.S. and abroad. Richard maintains expertise in financial and economic modeling for transaction support and strategy decisions including: project design, investment planning, capital budgeting, and structured finance. He has conducted economic and financial feasibility studies, cost-benefit assessments, due diligence, and multi-factor risk evaluations for investors, developers, and infrastructure banks. Richard has a deep technical background, with a Ph.D. in Civil Systems Engineering, an M.A. in International Affairs, and B.A in Economics. He is a Professor of Finance and Economics at Northeastern University, and a certified PPP professional. He has experience with the World Bank, the African Development Bank, Green Climate Fund, UNDP, and several national utilities. His unique specialties include valuation of strategic real-options in the face of potential business model disruptions. He also operates World Partners, a non-profit dedicated to helping small businesses in developing economies sharpen their strategies and access appropriate capital for growth. He lives in Reading, MA with his wife and children.
